AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/BEECH 55/59 Amdt 1.

Beechcraft 55, 58 and 95-55 (Baron) Series Aeroplanes

AD/BEECH 55/59 Amdt 1 Control Surface Trim Tab Systems 6/2008

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 5 June 2008.

Background:

This unique Australian AD was originally issued in 1980 against Beechcraft Service Instruction (SI) No. 0846-152, Rev. 2.  Amendment 1 of the AD issued in 2005 at the request of industry, provided for a 10% extension to the compliance period of 100 hours TIS.

The SI provided inspection procedures and trim tab free play limitations which would indicate when excessive wear had occurred in trim tab linkage and or actuators.  Compliance was within 100 hours TIS after 30 June 1980 and thereafter at intervals not exceeding 110 hours TIS.

As the manufacturer’s maintenance manuals have been amended to include this requirement, Schedule 5 requirements are adequate, and only one defect has been recorded on the mandatory recording system, it is considered that the unsafe condition is contained and that the AD is no longer required.
