AD/Beech 400/29 Galley Electrical Power Circuit Wiring (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Beechcraft 400 Series Aeroplanes

Applicability: | Hawker Beechcraft Model 400A series aeroplanes, identified in Raytheon Service Bulletin SB 25-3758, dated June 2006. |
Requirement: | 1. Carry out the following inspections in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions of SB 25-3758: |
| a. Inspect the galley cabinets to determine if a Precision Pattern galley cabinet, part number (P/N) 20917, 20918 or 20921 is installed, and | |
| b. If the Requirement 1.a. inspection determines that a galley P/N 20917, 20918 or 20921 is installed, inspect the galley electrical power circuit to determine if 8AWG (American Wire Gauge) wire is used. | |
| 2. Following the Requirement 1 inspection, carry out all applicable related investigative and corrective actions in accordance with the Accomplishment Instructions of SB 25-3758. | |
| Note 1: SB 25-3758, refers to Raytheon Kit 128-3068-0001, Revision 3, dated 18 April 2006, as an additional source of service information for replacing the undersized 10AWG wire with 8AWG wire in the gallery power circuit. | |
| Later revisions of the above SB, approved by the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an Alternate Method of Compliance (AMOC) to FAA AD 2007-24-01, are considered acceptable for compliance with the equivalent Requirements of this Directive. | |

Compliance: | For Requirement 1 - Within 200 hours time in service (TIS) or 12 months, whichever occurs first, after the effective date of this Directive, |
| For Requirement 2 - Within 20 hours TIS or 30 days, whichever occurs later, after the Requirement 1 inspection. | |
| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 14 February 2008. |
Background: | The FAA has received reports of undersized, and consequently unprotected, wire in the galley cabinets. The use of these wires could result in overheating of wire insulation and consequent fire or smoke in the aeroplane cabin. |
| This Directive requires inspecting the galley cabinets to determine if a certain part number is installed or if a certain size of wire already exists and, if necessary, accomplishing related investigative/corrective actions. |
