AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

AD/BEECH 36/53 Chafing of Wire Harness/Connector
and Fuel Line

Applicability:

Model G36 aeroplanes, serial numbers E- 3630, E-3636 through E-3817, E-3819 through E-3834, E-3836 through E-3887, E-3889 through E-3896, E-3898 and
E-3899.

Requirement:

1.    Inspect for the following in accordance with Hawker Beechcraft Mandatory Service Bulletin SB 28-3967, dated June 2009:

a.     Improper installation of the P60 / J60 electrical connector, associated wiring and fuel line, and

b.    Chafing damage of the electrical wiring and fuel line.

2.    If, as a result of the Requirement 1 inspections any of the following discrepancies are found accomplish corrective actions following in accordance with SB
28-3967:

a.     Improper installation of the P60 / J60 electrical connector, associated wiring or fuel line, correct the installation of the P60 / J60 electrical connector, associated wiring and fuel line.

b.    Chafing damage of the electrical wiring or fuel line, replace or repair the damaged parts.

Later revisions of the above SB, approved by the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an Alternate Method of Compliance (AMOC) to FAA AD 2009-15-01 are considered acceptable for compliance with the equivalent Requirements of this Directive.

Note:  FAA AD 2009-15-01 Amdt 39-15964 refers.

Compliance:

For Requirement 1 - Within 10 hours time-in-service (TIS) after 27 July 2009 (the effective date of this Directive) or 6 calendar months after 27 July 2009, whichever occurs first.

For Requirement 2 - Before further flight after the Requirement inspection.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 27 July 2009.

Background:

This Directive results from reports of chafing between the wire harness/connector(s) and fuel line.  The directive is issued to detect and correct improper installation and/or chafing between the wire harness/connector(s) and fuel line.  This chafing could lead to fuel leaking into the cockpit and fire in the cockpit if wiring arcs through the fuel line.
