AD/Beech 200/75 Tail Deicing Pneumatic Supply Tubes (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Beechcraft 200 (Super King Air) Series Aeroplanes
| AD/BEECH 200/75 | Tail Deicing Pneumatic Supply Tubes | 7/2008 TX |
Applicability: | Hawker Beechcraft Corporation B200 aircraft Serial Number (S/N) BB-1926, B200GT aircraft S/N BY-1 through BY-26. |
Requirement: | 1. Fabricate a placard (using at least 1/8-inch letters) with the following words and install the placard on the instrument panel within the pilot's clear view: “THIS AIRPLANE IS PROHIBITED FROM FLIGHT IN KNOWN OR FORECAST ICING.” Note 1: Requirement 1 may be accomplished and certified for by the aeroplane operator, provided they hold at least a private pilot’s license. 2. Replace the tail deice boot pneumatic supply tubes using Kit No. 130-9701-0003 in accordance with Hawker Beechcraft Mandatory Service Bulletin SB 30-3889 dated March 2008. The replacement of tail deice boot pneumatic supply tubes provides terminating action for the placard required by Requirement 1 of this Directive. 3. Remove the placard detailed in Requirement 1 of this AD. Note 2: Requirement 3 may be accomplished and certified for by the aeroplane operator, provided they hold at least a private pilot’s license. Note 3: FAA AD 2008-07-10 Amdt 39-15451 dated March 27 2008 refers. |
Compliance: | 1. For Requirement 1: Before further flight in known or forecast icing conditions or within the next 3 days after effective date of this AD whichever occurs first. 2. For Requirement 2: Within 25 hours time-in-service (TIS) after the effective date of this AD or within 3 months after April 13, 2008, whichever occurs first unless previously accomplished. 3. For Requirement 3: Before further flight after the replacement of tail deice boot pneumatic supply tubes as detailed in Requirement 2 of this Directive. |
| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 13 May 2008. |
Background: | This Directive requires the fabrication and installation of a placard incorporating information that limits operation when there is known or forecast icing. The Directive also requires the replacement of a section of the pneumatic supply tube for the tail deice system with a new tube of a different material. This Directive results from reports of collapsed tail deice boot pneumatic supply tubes. The issuing of this Directive is to prevent collapsed pneumatic supply tubes, which could result in failure of the tail deice boots to operate. This failure could lead to loss of control in icing conditions. |
