AD/BAe 146/71 Amdt 3 NLG Retraction Jack Attachment Boss (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/BAe 146/71 Amdt 2 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability: | Model BAe 146 series aircraft, all serial numbers; except those aircraft subject to the Supplemental Structural Inspection Document (SSID) programme. Model Avro 146-RJ70 aircraft, all serial numbers up to and including E1267. Model Avro 146-RJ85 aircraft, all serial numbers up to and including E2333. Model Avro 146-RJ100 aircraft, all serial numbers up to and including E3332. |

Background: | Evidence of cracking has been found on several in-service aircraft in the retraction jack attachment boss on the left hand nose landing gear (NLG) well sidewall, which in some circumstances has led to replacement of the sidewall. Amendment 1 added new inspection procedures. Amendment 2 introduced additional closing action to cover a complete NLG well sidewall replacement; plus further drawing information. Amendment 3 is issued in response to a new EASA AD, which introduces the substantive changes of ISB 53-152 Revision 3. |
