AD/BAe 146/54 Amdt 1 Elevator Drain Holes (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/BAe 146/54 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability: | Model BAe 146 and AVRO 146-RJ series aircraft, all serial numbers, unless previously modified in accordance with HCM01490A or HCM01490B or HCM0149C. |

Background: | Reports were received of water accumulation in the elevators following steep climbs. Un-drained accumulated water could upset the balance of the elevator. Amendment 1 is issued in response to a new EASA AD, which retains the requirements of the previous issues of the related service bulletin, and additionally, requires confirmation that accomplishment of the elevator drain hole modification is acceptable in accordance with Revision 3 of Service Bulletin 55-013-01490B. |
