AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/BAe 146/16 Amdt 6 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability:

BAe 146 aircraft, all models, all serial numbers.

AVRO 146-RJ aircraft, all models, all serial numbers.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with BAE Systems Mandatory Service Bulletin 57-033 Revision 9 or later approved revision.

Note 1:  Revision 9 of the service bulletin applies to pre and post Modification HCM01447A attachment fitting installations.

Note 2:  EASA AD 2007-0270, dated 16 October 2007, refers.

Compliance:

As specified in the requirement document.

This Amendment becomes effective on 30 October 2007.

Background:

This AD provides inspections to detect and correct the condition that leads to fuel leaks from bolt positions on the rear spar attachment of wing rib 2.

This Amendment updates the revision status of the service bulletin.  Revision 9 of the service bulletin specifies additional calendar time based inspection criteria to control the stress corrosion failures of the pre and post modification HCM01447A attachment fitting installations.

The original issue of this directive became effective on 31 August 1990.
