AD/B767/227 Bulkhead Structure at STA 1809.5 2/2007

Applicability:

All Model 767-200, -300, -300F, and -400ER series aircraft.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 2006-24-04
Amdt 39-14833.

Note:  Boeing Alert Service Bulletin 767-53A0131 original issue, or later FAA approved revision, refers.

Compliance:

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 15 February 2007.

Background:

The FAA received reports of fatigue cracks that were detected in the forward outer chord and horizontal inner chord at STA 1809.5 bulkhead.  Such cracking, unless detected and corrected, could result in failure of the bulkhead to carry the flight loads of the horizontal stabiliser, with consequent loss of aircraft controllability.
