AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Boeing 767 Series Aeroplanes

AD/B767/211 Door-Mounted Escape Slide/Rafts 9/2005 DM

Applicability:

Model 767-200, -300, and -400ER series aircraft; equipped with door-mounted escape slide/rafts.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 2005-12-14 Amdt 39-14130.

Note:  Boeing Alert Service Bulletin 767-25A0390 original issue, or later FAA approved revision, refer.

Compliance:

Within 30 days after 15 July 2005.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 15 July 2005.

Background:

The FAA received reports of uncommanded inflation of door- mounted escape slide/rafts into the passenger compartment of several Model 767-300 aircraft.  This Directive requires an inspection for excessive tension of the firing cable, and procedures for corrective actions, if necessary.
