Boeing 767 Series Aeroplanes

AD/B767/211 Amdt 1 Door-Mounted Escape Slide/Rafts 13/2008

Applicability:

Model 767-200, -300, and -400ER series aircraft, as identified in Boeing Alert Service Bulletin 767-25A0395 Revision 1, or later FAA approved revision; and equipped with Goodrich door-mounted escape slide/rafts having part numbers 5A3294-1, 5A3294-2, 5A3295-1, or 5A3295-3.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 2008-21-05 Amdt 39-15689.

Note:  Boeing Alert Service Bulletin 767-25A0390 dated 13 May 2005, or later FAA approved revision, refers.

Compliance:

As specified in the Requirement document, with a revised effective date of
18 December 2008.

This Amendment becomes effective on 18 December 2008.

Background:

The FAA received reports of uncommanded inflation of door- mounted escape slide/rafts into the passenger compartment of several Model 767-300 aircraft.  This Directive requires an inspection for excessive tension of the firing cable, and procedures for corrective actions, if necessary.

Amendment 1 is issued in response to a new FAA AD, which continues to require the inspections of the firing cable; and for certain aircraft, the new FAA AD also requires a review of the aircraft maintenance records to determine if a certain service bulletin has been incorporated, or an inspection to determine if certain escape slide/rafts are installed.
