AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/B767/15 Amdt 1 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Boeing 767 Series Aeroplanes

AD/B767/15 Amdt 2 Entry/Service Door 2/2005

Applicability:

All models listed in Boeing Service Bulletins 767-52-0032 Rev 2, 767-52-0037 and 767-52-0044 Rev 3 or later FAA approved revisions of each bulletin.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with Boeing Service Bulletins 767-52-0032 Rev 2, 767-52-0037 and 767-52-0044 Rev 3 or later FAA approved revisions of each bulletin.

Note:  FAA AD 86-22-11 refers.

Compliance:

Prior to 31 December 1988.

This Amendment becomes effective on 17 February 2005.

Background:

The manufacturer reports component failures in the entry/service door counterbalance and trolley assemblies.

Amendment 1 to this Directive, effective 14 July 1988, reflected Revision 2 to SB 767-52-0044 which required an inspection for improperly manufactured aft entry/service door roller side tracks and repairs as necessary.

This amendment updates the revision status of two of the Boeing Service Bulletins.  All Australian registered aircraft should have already complied with this AD.  This amendment is issued to ensure that confusion does not occur about the revision status of the referenced service bulletins.

The original issue of this AD became effective on 31 January 1987.
