Applicability: | Model 747-100, -100B, -100B SUD, -200B, -200C, -200F, -300, 747SP, and 747SR series aircraft listed in Boeing Alert Service Bulletin 747-54A2224 Rev 1, dated Note: This Directive is only applicable to aircraft equipped with Pratt & Whitney or General Electric engines as nominated in the Alert Service Bulletin. |

| This Amendment becomes effective on 18 December 2009. | |
Background: | The FAA received a report indicating the front spar chord assembly for strut No. 3 fractured on a Model 747-200B aircraft. Investigation revealed the fitting fractured as a result of fatigue at a critical stress area. Fracture of the front spar chord assembly will result in loss of the strut upper link load path. The original issue of this Directive specified FAA AD 2004-25-05 and Alert Service Bulletin 747-54A2224 at its initial issue. Amendment 1 specifies FAA AD 2007-01-15, and Alert Service Bulletin |
