AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/B747/119 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.1 (1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Boeing 747 Series Aeroplanes

AD/B747/119 Amdt 1 Engine Bleed Air Crossover Duct 2/2005

Applicability:

All model 747 aircraft, except model 747-400 series, line position 2 through 707.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with Boeing Service Bulletin 747-36-2078 revision 2 or revision 3.

Note:  FAA AD 90-21-09 Amdt 39-6756 refers.

Compliance:

Remains unchanged as detailed in the original issue of this Directive, as specified in the requirement document.

This Amendment becomes effective on 17 February 2005.

Background:

The manufacturer has reported a number of failed crossover ducts which have resulted in damage to the aircraft or interruption to scheduled air services.

This amendment corrects the service bulletin referenced in this Directive.

The original issue of this Directive became effective on 24 June 1993.
