Ad/B737/29 Amdt 2 - Window Belt Skin Doubler (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/B737/29 Amdt 1 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability: | Model 737 series with line numbers 001 through 519. |
Requirement: | Action in accordance with the Technical Requirements of FAA AD 91-07-04 Note: Boeing Service Bulletin 737-53-1078 Revision 4 refers. The FAA has approved the inspection and repair procedures contained in this service bulletin as an alternative to the earlier service bulletin issue specified in AD 91-07-04. |

Background: | The FAA received reports that were submitted as a result of FAA AD 89-15-05, which indicated that approximately one-third of the aircraft inspected had disbonding. This condition, if not corrected, could result in rapid decompression of the aircraft. This Directive requires repetitive inspections until the terminating modification is accomplished. Amendment 2 is issued to introduce a Requirement note that specifies FAA approval of work accomplishment in accordance with the latest service bulletin issue. |
