AD/B737/247 MLG Beam Support Fitting Lugs 12/2005

Applicability:

Model 737-100, -200, -200C, and -300 series aircraft, with line numbers 1 through 1670.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with the technical requirements of FAA AD 2005-18-08 Amdt 39-14248.

Note:  Boeing Service Bulletins 737-57-1267, 737-57-1216 Revision 2, and
737-57A1260 Revision 2, or later FAA approved revisions, refer.

Compliance:

As specified in the Requirement document, with a revised effective date of
24 November 2005.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 24 November 2005.

Background:

The FAA received reports of discrepancies on the lugs of the support fitting of the main landing gear beam.  The actions required by this Directive are intended to prevent separation of the support beam of the main landing gear from the rear spar, which could cause cracking of the main landing gear support fitting and consequent leakage from the wing fuel tank or collapse of the main landing gear.
