Ad/B737/24 Amdt 1 - Forward Galley Doorway Upper Corners (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/B737/24 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability: | Model 737 aircraft, line numbers 1 to 1560; except aircraft PJ201 through PJ219. |
Requirement: | Accomplish a high and low frequency eddy current inspection for cracks in the skin, skin doubler and bear strap doubler in the upper corners of the forward galley door, in accordance with Boeing Service Bulletin 737-53-1116 original issue, dated 21 July 1988, or later FAA approved revision. |
Compliance: | Before the accumulation of 35,000 flight cycles or within 3,500 flight cycles after 10 August 1989, whichever occurs later, and thereafter at the intervals specified in the Requirement document; until incorporation of the modification detailed in Figure 3 of the Requirement document, which constitutes terminating action for the requirements of this Directive. The compliance time remains unchanged for this issue of the Directive. |

Background: | Five operators reported sixteen cracks in the skin and doublers on seven aircraft with between 40,500 and 60,800 flight cycles. Amendment 1 is issued to amend the Requirement section to allow work to be carried out to the latest service bulletin revision. |
