AD/B717/30 Grey Water Drain Hose Support Bracket (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability: | Model 717-200 aircraft, as identified in Boeing Alert Service Bulletin 717-38A0004 Revision 1, or later FAA approved revision; excluding fuselage number 5005. |

Background: | The FAA received reports of interference between the potable water supply hose and/or grey water drain hose at the aft lavatories, and the fuel line and/or power feeder cables of the auxiliary power unit located below the aft cabin floor. Such interference and chafing, unless detected and corrected, could cause arcing and sparking, and/or fuel leakage and consequent fire. |
