AD/ATR 42/7 Aileron Tab Bellcrank Assembly (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

AD/ATR 42/7 Aileron Tab Bellcrank Assembly 8/2007

Applicability:

All Model ATR 42 aircraft, all serial numbers, except aircraft with ATR modification 04372 incorporated in production or with ATR Service Bulletin (SB)
ATR42-27-0081 or SB ATR42-27-0092 incorporated in service.

Requirement:

Action in accordance with the requirements of EASA AD 2006-0376.

Note:  ATR Service Bulletin ATR42-27-0098 original issue, or later EASA approved revision, refers.

Compliance:

Unless already accomplished, before 30 August 2007.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 2 August 2007.

Background:

Reports were received of in-service aircraft with aileron tab bellcrank assemblies that do not conform with design drawings.  This Directive requires inspection of the aileron tab bellcrank retainer and, if necessary, restoration of the correct installation.
