AD/ATR 42/28 Barrel Swinging Lever Hinge (Cth)

AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

AD/ATR 42/28 Barrel - Swinging Lever Hinge 10/2011

Applicability:

Model ATR 42-200, 42-300 and 42-320 aeroplanes on which Service Bulletin MESSIER-DOWTY 631-32-145 has not been incorporated.

Requirement:

Incorporate Service Bulletin MESSIER-DOWTY 631-32-145.

Note:  DGAC AD 1996-294(B) R4 refers.

Compliance:

If a certificate of airworthiness has not been issued - prior to issue of a certificate of airworthiness.

If a certificate of airworthiness has been issued - prior to first flight after
20 June 2011.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 20 May 2011.

Background:

DGAC AD 1996-294(B) R4 specifies periodic inspections until Service Bulletin MESSIER-DOWTY 631-32-145 is incorporated.
