AD/Artouste/7 Engine Driven Fuel Pump (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability: | Turbomeca ARTOUSTE III B, III B1 and III D turboshaft engines. Note 1: These engines are fitted to but may not be limited to Eurocopter ALOUETTE III (SE 3160 / SA 316 B) and LAMA (SA 315 B) helicopters. |
Requirement: | 1. For fuel pumps listed in Appendix 1 (Inspection to be performed) of Turbomeca Mandatory Service Bulletin No. 218 73 0802 Update 1, or later DGAC approved revision, check the pump in accordance with the instructions detailed in Turbomeca MSB No. 218 73 0802 Update 1 or later DGAC approved revision. 2. Replace the pump with a serviceable pump if it cannot meet the approved maximum fuel flow. Note 2: EASA AD 2007-0030 dated 6 February 2007 refers. |
Compliance: | Before 1 March 2007. |

Background: | An audit of fuel pump acceptance test facility revealed evidence of calibration issues. Consequently certain pumps may not be able to deliver maximum fuel flows under certain flight conditions. |
