AD/Arrius/9 Correct Position of Adjusted FCU Fuel Filter (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Turbomeca Turbine Engines - Arrius Series
| AD/ARRIUS/9 | Correct Position of Adjusted FCU Fuel Filter | 8/2005 DM |
Applicability: | Turbomeca turbo-shaft engine model ARRIUS 2F. |
Requirement: | Comply with the instructions provided in the paragraph 2 of Turbomeca Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) No A319 73 4823 dated 11 May 2005 or later EASA / DGAC approved revisions. Note: French DGAC Airworthiness Directive (AD) F-2005-088 as approved under EASA reference No 2005-4736 dated 31 May 2005 refers. |
Compliance: | Unless already accomplished, within 25 engine operating hours from the effective date of this AD but no later than 31 July 2005; and then repetitively, each time a check of the adjusted FCU filtering element is performed, at intervals defined for this task in chapter 05-20-00 of the ARRIUS 2F Maintenance Manual. |
| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 14 June 2005. | |
Background: | The acceptance test of an ARRIUS 2F adjusted Fuel Control Unit (FCU) revealed that an incorrect position of the fuel filter of the adjusted FCU could lead to a limited fuel flow downstream of the fuel filter. Less than optimum fuel flow downstream of the fuel filter of the adjusted FCU may limit the maximum available power of the engine, which may create an unsafe condition during critical phases of the flight. The actions specified in this AD address the identified unsafe condition. |
