AD/APU/22 APS 3200 APU Software Upgrade (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Auxiliary Power Units

Applicability: | Hamilton Sundstrand (formerly Auxiliary Power International Corporation - APIC) APS 3200 auxiliary power units (APU). |
| Note 1: These APUs are known to be installed on, but not limited to, Airbus A319, A320 and A321 series aeroplanes. | |
Requirement: | 1. Determine the applicability of the Direction Générale de l’Aviation Civile of France (DGAC) Airworthiness Directive (AD) 96-293(B) R1. |
| Note 2: This determination may have been performed in accordance with AD/A320/199 for A319 series aeroplanes, if this is the case no further action is necessary for this Directive. | |

| 2. If it is determined that a DGAC AD 96-293(B) R1 is applicable and has not been previously accomplished, perform the actions required by that AD. | |
Compliance: | For Requirements 1 and 2 - Within 30 days after the effective date of this Directive. |
| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 30 April 2008. |
Background: | The DGAC AD 96-293(B) R1 required the upgrading of the APU electronic control box software, a one time action for which the compliance date and/or period has passed. CASA has determined that this AD may be applicable to recently registered Australian aircraft. This Directive is issued to ensure all applicable State of Design ADs are complied with. |
