AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive AD/AIRCON/10.

Airconditioning Equipment

AD/AIRCON/10 Janitrol Cabin Heaters 4/2008

Requirement:

CANCELLED.

This AD is cancelled on 10 April 2008.

Background:

This unique Australian Airworthiness Directive (AD), issued in 1986, was applicable to aircraft using JP fuel only (not applicable to heaters using gasoline fuel) required replacement of an 'O' ring in the heater fuel system in accordance with Janitrol Aero Service Bulletin (SB) No. 5 rather than a State of Design AD.  The manufacturer considered replacement of the "O" ring, and possible replacement of the solenoid valve assembly, was necessary to prevent the possibility of fuel leakage into the cabin ventilation system.  Compliance with this requirement was within 100 hours heater time in service or 60 days after 28 February 1986.

Given the number of years that this AD has been promulgated, the inspection requirements of AD/AIRCON/9, and that no corresponding State of Design AD requirement has been published, it is considered that the unsafe condition no longer exists.
