Ad/A330/70 Amdt 1 - MLG Rib 6 Aft Bearing Lugs (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
On the effective date specified below, and for the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below revokes Airworthiness Directive (AD) AD/A330/70 and issues the following AD under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Airbus Industrie A330 Series Aeroplanes
| AD/A330/70 Amdt 1 | MLG Rib 6 Aft Bearing Lugs | 11/2007 DM |
Applicability: | All Model A330-200 and A330-300 series aircraft, all serial numbers. |
Requirement: | Action in accordance with the requirements of EASA Emergency AD 2007-0247-E. Note: Airbus Service Bulletin A330-57-3096 Rev 2, or later EASA approved revision, refers. |
Compliance: | As specified in the Requirement document. |
| This Amendment becomes effective on 10 September 2007. | |
Background: | A crack was detected visually during main landing gear (MLG) lubrication, in the MLG Rib 6 aft bearing forward lug on an in-service A330 aircraft. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the cracking. This situation, if not corrected, could affect the structural integrity of the MLG attachment. This amendment is issued to expand the applicability to all A330 aircraft and to add a flight hours inspection interval (previously only flight cycles were specified). The original issue of this AD became effective on 14 December 2006. |
