AD/A330/59 Electronic Instrument System Software Upgrade (Cth)
AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998. The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.
Airbus Industrie A330 Series Aeroplanes

Applicability: | Airbus A330 aeroplanes, all certified models, all serial numbers, equipped with Electronic Instrument System EIS 2 software versions as follows: |
| a. Version L4-1 installed through either Airbus modification 51153 during production or Airbus Service Bulletin (SB) A330-31-3057 or A330-31-3056 whilst in service, or | |
| b. Version L5 installed through either Airbus modification 51974 during production or Airbus SB A330-31-3069 or A330-31-3056 whilst in service. | |
| Note 1: This Directive is not applicable to aircraft on which EIS 2 software standard L6-1 has been installed through either Airbus modification 53063 during production or Airbus SB A330-31-3087 during service. | |
Requirement: | Upgrade the standard of EIS 2 to L6-1 in accordance with Airbus SB A330-31-3087 or later EASA approved revision. |
| Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM) Temporary Revision (TR) 4.03.00/26 introduced by AD/A330/53 Amdt 1 may be removed from the AFM following installation of software standard L6-1. | |

Compliance: | Before 31 December 2007. |
| This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 31 August 2006. | |
Background: | This Directive provides terminating action for AD/A330/53 Amdt 1, which will be cancelled in January 2008. |
