AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Airbus Industrie A330 Series Aeroplanes

AD/A330/47 Fuel - THS Fuel Tanks 4/2005

Applicability:

AIRBUS A330 aeroplanes fitted with Intertechnique outboard vent float valve part number (P/N) L87-13-002 installed in the trimmable horizontal stabilizer (THS).

Note 1:  Intertechnique vent float valve P/N L87-13-002 is embodied in production by AIRBUS modification 52110 or in service by AIRBUS Service Bulletin A330-28-3089.

Requirement:

Remove from service and replace the Intertechnique outboard vent float valves P/N L87-13-002.

Note 2:  DGAC AD F-2005-003 EASA Approval 2004-12543 dated 27 December 2004 refers.

Compliance:

Prior to the valve accumulating 24,500 flight cycles since first installation on the aeroplane.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 14 April 2005.

Background:

The Directive introduces an operation life for the Intertechnique outboard vent float valve P/N L87-13-002.
