Compliance: | Prior to the accumulation of 6600 flights. |
| This AD commences on 30 September 2016. | |
Background: | The chrome plate grinding process used during manufacture may have caused overheating of the main landing gear axle and introduced residual stresses in the flange to axle radius. In some sliding tube assemblies, this has caused cracks under the chrome plating in the area of the brake mounting flange, with a subsequent reduction in safe operating life. Amendment 1 is issued to correct a typographical error in the applicability paragraph of this AD. The reference to Model A321-111 aircraft was changed to A320-111. |
