AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE

For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Pacific Aerospace 750XL Series Aeroplanes

AD/750XL/4 Fuselage Frame at Station 384.62 7/2005

Applicability:

Model 750XL aircraft, serial numbers 101 through 108.

Requirement:

1.    Inspect in accordance with Pacific Aerospace Corporation Mandatory Service Bulletin (MSB) PACSB/XL/010 to ensure that the correct size rivets have been used to secure the horizontal tail surface load transfer angles to the rearmost fuselage frame at Station 384.62.

2.    If undersized rivets are installed, replace the rivets in accordance with Section 2.B. of MSB PACSB/XL/010.

Note:  NZ CAA AD DCA/750XL/4 refers.

Compliance:

1.    Within 100 hours time in service after 7 July 2005, unless already accomplished.

2.    Within 100 hours time in service after inspection.

This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 7 July 2005.

Background:

This Directive requires an inspection to detect the possible installation of undersized rivets to ensure the aircraft’s structure conforms to the type design and expected levels of strength and durability.
