s1 2 s4 Acts Interpretation Amendment (No. 1) No. 280, 2000 ˙ Short title 1. This regulation may be cited as the Acts Interpretation Amendment Regulation (No. 1) 2000 . ˙ Commencement 2. This regulation commences on 1 January 2001. ˙ Regulation amended 3. This regulation amends the Acts Interpretation Regulation 1997 . ˙ Replacement of s 3 (Meaning of “commemorative birth certificate”) 4. Section 3— omit, insert— ˙ Meaning of “commemorative birth certificate” 3.(1) A “commemorative birth certificate” is an extract about a child from the relevant entry or duplicate entry in a register kept under the RegistrationofBirths,DeathsandMarriagesAct1962 (the “birth register” ) or the Adoption of Children Act 1964 (the “adopted children register” ) that— (a) contains the particulars prescribed by regulation for an extract for the RegistrationofBirths,DeathsandMarriagesAct1962 , section 22(1AA); and (b) is certified in the same way as those extracts are required to be certified; and (c) is more decorative than those extracts; and (d) for an extract about a child who is not an adopted child, also contains the following particulars as recorded in the entry or duplicate entry in the birth register— (i) the given names, maiden surname, age as at the date of the child’s birth and place of birth of the child’s mother; (ii) the given names, surname, age as at the date of the child’s
s4 3 s4 Acts Interpretation Amendment (No. 1) No. 280, 2000 birth and place of birth of the child’s father; and (e ) for an extract about an adopted child, also contains the following particulars to the extent recorded in, or able to be worked out from, the entry in the adopted children register— (i) the given names, maiden surname, age as at the date of the child’s birth and place of birth of the child’s adoptive mother; (ii) the given names, surname, age as at the date of the child’s birth and place of birth of the child’s adoptive father. (2) Despite subsection (1)(e), the registrar general may, at the written request of an applicant for a commemorative birth certificate about an adopted child, withhold an adoptive parent’s age. (3) In this section— “registrar general” has the meaning given by th Regi e stration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Act 1962 , section 5.’. ENDNOTES 1.
