Regulations under the Aborigines Welfare

Ordinance 1954.*

Welfare Ordinance 1954, hereby make the following Regulations.

A B O R I G I N E S W E L F A R E R E G U L A T I O N S .

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Aborigines Welfare Citation.

Regulations.

2. In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears— Deflations.

" authorized person " means a person appointed under the next

succeeding regulation to be an authorized person;

" Manager " means a person appointed under the next succeeding

regulation to manage a reserve;

" t h e Ordinance " means the Aborigines Welfare Ordinance 1954.
3. The Minister may, by writing under his hand— Minister may

(a) appoint a person to manage a reserve; and Managersai (b) appoint a person to be an authorized person for the purposes authorized

4.—(1.) A person other than— Entry of

( a ) a person returning to the reserve with the consent of the Preserve.™

Minister under section 6 of the Ordinance;

(b) a person ordered to reside in the reserve under section 7 of

the Ordinance;

(c) a resident of the reserve; or

(d) the Manager, an authorized person or a member of the

Police Force,

shall not enter, or remain on, a reserve without a permission in writing

granted under the next succeeding sub-regulation.

Pena l ty :  Ten pounds.

(2.) The Minister may grant permission in writing to enter or remain on a reserve and may specify in the permission conditions to be complied with by the person to whom it is granted.

(b) shall not refuse or fail to produce the permission for inspec- tion if so required by the Manager, an authorized person or a member of the Police Force; and

(2.) A person shall, while on a reserve, obey all reasonable orders and

instructions of the Manager which are applicable to the person.

Liquor and 7. A person shall not, except for use in case of accident or on the

drugs not to

be brought on prescription of a legally qualified medical practitioner, bring any liquor
to a reserve. or narcotic drug on to a reserve.

Certain acts,

and possession 8. A person shall not, on a reserve—
of certain
things, (a) bet or wager or attempt or offer to bet or wager;
prohibited on (b) play or take par t in games of chance, including lotteries or
a reserve. sweepstakes, for money or other valuable th ing;

(c) use, or permit to be used, a place for a purpose specified in

the last two preceding paragraphs;

(d) keep any livestock or dogs without the permission of the

Manager;

(e) consume, or be in possession of, liquor or a narcotic drug

without the permission of the Manager or a legal; | j» qualified medical practitioner; ^ P

( / ) be under the influence of liquor or a narcotic d rug ;

(g) be in possession of a poison without the permission of the

Manager;

(h) be in possession of a firearm;
(i) behave indecently or in a disorderly or unseemly manner ; or

( /) use threatening or obscene language.

Pena l ty :  Ten pounds.
