ABORIGINALS PROTECTION AND [ASSENTED TO 14TH NOVEMBER, 1928.] RESTRICTION OF THE SALE B E it enacte~ by the Ki~ g' s Most Excellent Majes~ y, OF ~ ~ ~ UM by and wIth the advIce and consent of the Legls- AMENDMENT lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, ACT OF 1928. and by the authority of the same, as follows;- 1. This Act may be cited as " The Aboriginals Short title Protection and Restriction of the Sale of Opium Act :~ ~ c~ ~ ~~ of Amendment Act of 1928," and shall be read and Act. construed with and as an amendment of * "The Aboriginals Protection and Restriction of the Sale of Opium Act, 1897," herein referred to as the Principal Act. "shall for every such offence be liable on conviction, for the first offence, to a penalty not exceeding one hundred pounds and not less than twenty pounds, or to imprison- ment for any term not exceeding three months and not less than one month, and for every second and every subsequent offence to a penalty not exceeding two hundred pounds and not less than fifty pounds, or to imprisonment for any term not exceeding six months and not less than three months, any law to the contrary notwithstanding. No. 7, any offender under the above provisions shall be paid to the person giving the information which led to the conviction of such offender." The following provision is added to the said section:- "Notwithstanding anything in any. Act to the contrary, when any person is convicted before any justices of an offence under this section, the justices shall not be competent to reduce the penalty to be imposed in respect of such offence below the prescribed minimum penalty, and if they impose imprisonment, they shall not be competent to impose imprisonment for~ a less period than the prescribed minimum period Lof imprisonment.' , AGENTS-FARM PRODUCE. E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- Short title and construc- tion. 1. This Act may be cited as "The Farm Produce Agents Act Amendment Act of 1928," and shall be read as one with *" The Farm Produce Agents Act of 1917," herein referred to as the Principal Act. The Principal Act and this Act may collectively be cited as "The Farm Produce Agents Acts, 1917 to 1928." * 8 Geo. v. No. 17, supra, page 8265.
