Aboriginal Land Council Elections Act 2004

An Act to defer the third election of members of the Aboriginal Land Council of Tasmania

[Royal Assent 27 May 2004]

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1Short titleThis Act may be cited as the Aboriginal Land Council Elections Act 2004 . 2CommencementThis Act commences on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent, but if it does not receive the Royal Assent by 28 May 2004 this Act is taken to have commenced on that date. 3Third Council electionNotwithstanding section 7(3) of the Aboriginal Lands Act 1995 , the date determined by the Chief Electoral Officer under section 7(2) of that Act in respect of the third election of members of the Aboriginal Land Council of Tasmania is to be a date not sooner than 1 January 2005 and not later than 31 December 2005. 4Administration of ActUntil provision is made in relation to this Act by order under section 4 of the Administrative Arrangements Act 1990  – (a) the administration of this Act is assigned to the Premier; and (b) the department responsible to the Premier in relation to the administration of this Act is the Department of Premier and Cabinet. 5Act repealedThe Act specified in Schedule 1 is repealed.
