(1.) This Act may be cited as "The Abattoirs : ~ ~ struction Agreement Ratification and Meat Industry Act Amendment of Act. Act of 1932," and shall be read as one with *" The Abattoirs Agreement Ratification and ]}f eat Industry Act of 1930," herein referred to as the Principal Act. Collective (2.) Without prejudice to any other method of title of Aets. citation, the Principal Act, t" The Abattoirs Ag'reement Ratification and MeatIndustryAct Amendment Act of 1931," t" The Abattoirs Further Agreement Ratification and JYJeat Industry Act of 1932," §" The Queensland Meat Inspection Agreement Act of 1932," and this Act may collectively be cited as "The Abattoirs Agreement Ratification and Meat Industry Acts, 1930 to 1932." A of m s e . n1d6m. ent Act i 2 s . r ( e 1 p .) eaCleldauasend (c) thoef sfoelcltoiwoninsgixctleaeunseof (c t ) heisPirninsecripteadl in lieu thereof, namely:- " (c) Payment of compensation as hereinafter provided- Such compensation may be paid to any person who satisfies the Board that, at the commencement of the operation of this Part, he is the owner, mortgagee, or lessee of slaughtering works in the Area, which owing to the operation of this Part will be discontinued. Abattoirs Agreement Ratification, Etc., Act. extended time as the Board may allow, whether partly before and partly after or wholly after the expiration of the said period of three months; The compensation, if any, payable to any such person shall be in the discretion of the Board; but in no case shall such compensation exceed the actual cost of the slaughtering works, which for the purposes of this provision shall mean the building and appurtenances wherein the slaughtering operations .are conducted only and not including any land or other buildings or works, less reasonable depreciation of such building and appurtenances ; moreover no claim whatever shall lie for goodwill, or for any profits which but for the coming into operation of this Part mayor might have been made from the works, or any similar considerations : Provided that the compensation payable under this provision (c) shall not exceed in the whole the sum of ten thousand pounds, and shall be in full settlement of all the claims thereunder." (2.) Paragraph (c) of section sixteen as enacted by Retrospec- this Act shall be deemed to have been inserted in the tive . Principal Act at the date of the coming into operation operatIOn. of Part IV. thereof, and to this extent shall have retrospective application. 3. Section twenty-two of the Principal Act is Amendment amended as follows :_ of s. 22. (a) A new subsection is inserted after subsection two as follows :- " (2A.) (i. ) No person shall, except with the consent Sla.ughtering of and under the conditions prescribed by the Board- ~ ~ rwbnOiling- (a) Slaughter within the Metropolitan Abattoir purposes. Area any cattle for boiling-down purposes; or

(b) Bring or send or cause or allow to be brought or sent into the Metropolitan Abattoir Area for boiling-down purposes any portion of any animal dying or slaughtered without that Area; or (c) Conduct or carry on any boiling-down works or operations within the .Metropolitan Abattoir Area. (ii.) In addition to the penalty prescribed by subsection five of this section, the Board may destroy any carcass or portion of any ammal found or brought within the Metropolitan Abattoir Area in contravention of the provisions of this subsection." (b) A new subsection is inserted after subsection four, as follows :- " (4A. ) No person shall, except with the consent of and under the conditions prescribed by the Board, keep or store within the Metropolitan Abattoir Area any carcass or meat derived from any animal slaughtered, or any portion of an animal brought or sent into such Area, otherv{ise than in accordance with the provisions of this Act."
