An Act to enable the Government to open a Road from the Parramatta Road to the Public Abattoir now being erected on Glebe Island and to prevent Cattle from being driven on such Road except within certain hours. [7th September, 1855.]

| hour s | Be i t therefore enacted by H i s Excel lency t h e | Governor |
| of N e w South W a l e s by and wi th t he advice and consent of | t he |
| Legis la t ive Counci l thereof | as follows :— |
1. I t shall be lawful for t he Governor wi th t he advice of t he Execu t ive Council to cause to be opened and m a d e a road of t h e wid th of one chain from and out of t h e P a r r a m a t t a Road to t he shore of J o h n s o n ' s Bay in t he direction and th rough the lands ment ioned on the Schedule here to or as nea r the re to as m a y be found most con ven ien t and to cause to be made a causeway or br idge from the
| t e rmina t ion of t h e said road to Glebe I s l and | aforesaid. |
2. Provided tha t before any cat t le shall be pe rmi t t ed to be dr iven
a long t h e said road the same shall a t t he publ ic expense be well and se
curely fenced in on bo th sides thereof wi th a three-rai led hardwood fence.
3. P rov ided also t h a t no bul l cow ox heifer or steer except
| such in tended road shal l pass and for t he m a k i n g of which t h r o u g h such l and no genera l or o ther power of m a k i n g such road was reserved in t h e or iginal g ran t thereof shal l deem himself aggrieved thereby he shall be ent i t led to compensat ion for t he damage (if any) he shal l sus ta in by t h e opening of t h e said road and such compensat ion shall be ascer ta ined upon the l ike not ice and by t h e l ike means as are requ i red a n d provided by t h e Ac t of Council passed in t he fourth year of t he re ign of H i s l a te Majesty K i n g Wi l l i am the F o u r t h n u m b e r eleven Provided always t h a t th is enac tmen t shall n o t apply to such propr ie tors and occupiers as have a l ready consented to t he opening of t he said road on condit ions corresponding with the provisoes conta ined in t he second and th i rd sections hereof. | S C H E D U L E . |

a long t h e said road except between t h e hours of six o'clock in t he
even ing and e ight o'clock in t h e m o r n i n g and every person who shall
dr ive or cause to be dr iven any such ca t t le in to or a long the said road
a t any o ther t i m e shall on convict ion before one or more Jus t i ces of
the; Peace forfeit and pay any sum not exceeding t w e n t y shill ings for
each and every head of such cat t le so driven.
