It is notified for general information that the Governor-General has approved the following awards:

 

In recognition of their actions in Timor in February 1942

 

 

 

MEDAL FOR GALLANTRY (MG)

 

Australian Army

 

The late Corporal James Hubert ARMSTRONG

For acts of gallantry in action in hazardous circumstances as a machine gunner with D Company, 2/40 Battalion in Timor on 21 February 1942.

 

The late Signalman Robert Henry FRAZER

For acts of gallantry in action in hazardous circumstances as a motor cycle dispatch rider with Sparrow Force Headquarters in support of 2/40 Battalion in Timor on 21 February 1942.

 

 

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE MEDAL (DSM)

 

Australian Army

 

The late Lieutenant Colonel Norman Peterson

  MADDERN

For distinguished leadership in warlike operations as the Acting Company Commander of the Reinforcement Company in the 2/40 Battalion in Timor on 22 February 1942.

 

The late Lieutenant Ronald George WILLIAMS

For distinguished leadership in warlike operations as the Platoon Commander of 16 Platoon in the 2/40 Battalion in Timor on 27 February 1942.
