WORLD HERITAGE PROPERTIES CONSERVATION REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT)
(Issued under the authority of the Minister of State for the Arts, Sport, the Environment, Tourism and Territories)
The purpose of the World Heritage Properties Conservation Regulations (Amendment) is to protect native plants on a block of land at Mission Beach in the Wet Tropics of Queensland World Heritage Area, for which the Queensland Government has issued a clearing permit, in order to ensure that this area of Queensland is conserved for future generations.
Details of the proposed Regulations are as follows:
Regulation 1 deals with interpretation.
Regulation 2 inserts a new regulation 3E into the Principal Regulations. The new regulation prohibits the killing, removing or damaging of native plants, and the disturbing of soil in such a way as to damage a native plant, on the relevant property with the exception of traditional activities of Aboriginal people or activities performed by Aboriginal people for their own use.
Regulation 3 inserts a new Schedule 2C to the Principal Regulations which defines the relevant property as Lot 640 on Plan Cat. No CWL3521, Parish of Rockingham, County of Cardwell, Queensland.
