WAR GRAVES ACT 1980
WAR GRAVES REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT)
The War Graves Act 1980 (the Act), establishes the position of Director of War Graves who, under the Secretary to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, administers the provisions relating to war graves. Sub-section 6(2) of the Act provides that the Director shall be paid such allowances as are prescribed.
Section 14 of the Act provides that the Governor-General may make regulations. Regulation 3 of the War Graves Regulations, which was inserted in June 1981 prescribes allowances for the Director of War Graves. It refers to sub-section 6(2) of ‘the Act’ but the Regulations do not define the Act.
The proposed Statutory Rules will define the Act as meaning the War Graves Act 1980.
