Subregulation 12.23(3)

ULURU-KATA TJUTA NATIONAL PARK

 

PROHIBITION OF ENTERING AND REMAINING WITHIN THE PARK

 

I, Ronald (Ricky) Archer, Director of National Parks, acting pursuant to subregulation 12.23(3) of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Regulations 2000 (Regulations), having taken into account and being satisfied that access to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park (Park) be restricted for cultural reasons HEREBY PROHIBIT all persons entering or remaining in the Park from 6.00am ACST on 30 August 2024 until 6.00am ACST on 31 August 2024, other than

  1. residents of communities, towns, outstations and other permanent residential places that are located on Aboriginal Land, as it is defined under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976; and
  2. minimum services personnel in the performance of their duties.
  3. those transitioning through the Park to travel through to Western Australia

 

Note 1: Certain classes of person will be exempt from this prohibition by operation of subregulation 12.06(1) of the Regulations.

Note 2: For the purposes of this prohibition ‘minimum services personnel’ means healthcare workers, persons involved in the delivery or sale of food and essential personal items, persons involved in the delivery and maintenance of utilities including water, sewer, electricity and gas, persons involved in the provision of government services, banking, telecommunications, transport, hygiene, animal health, fuel, postal and refuse collection, and emergency services personnel including police, fire and ambulance.
