EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

Issued by the Authority of the Minister for Industrial Relations Trade Union Training Authority Regulations (Amendment)

Section 59 of the Trade Union Training Authority Act 1975 (the Act) provides that the Governor General may make regulations for the purposes of the Act.

 

Subsection 30(1) of the Act relevantly provides that there is to be an Australian Trade Union Training Centre for each State. Paragraph 30(2)(a) of the Act provides that the regulations may provide for the establishment of a Trade Union Training Centre for the Australian Capital Territory.

 

Part III of the Trade Union Training Regulations (the Regulations) establishes a Trade Union Training Centre (the Centre) for the Australian Capital Territory (the ACT) and prescribes the functions for the Centre.

 

The Executive Council of the Australian Trade Union Training Authority (TUTA) has decided to close the Centre and service the ACT from TUTA's New South Wales Centre.

 

The Regulations have been amended by repealing Part Ill as the Part is no longer necessary.

 

The amending Regulations commence on gazettal.
