REGULATION UNDER THE POST AND TELEGRAPH ACT 1901-1950.*
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation under the Post and Telegraph Act 1901-1950.

Amendment of the Telegraph Regulations.†
Method of paying charges.
Regulation 39 of the Telegraph Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulations (1.) and (1a.) and inserting in their stead the following sub-regulations:—
“(1.) Subject to this regulation and to Part IV., payment of the charge for the transmission of a telegram shall be made by, or on behalf of, the sender to the counter officer at the time the telegram is lodged—
(a) in cash; or
(b) by the tendering, affixed to the telegram form, of unobliterated stamps having a value equal to the transmission charge.
“(1aa.) The counter officer with whom a telegram is lodged shall, if the charge for transmission of the telegram is paid in cash, record on the telegram form the amount paid by, or on behalf of, the sender—
(a) by means of a cash register endorsement; or
(b) by affixing to the telegram form unobliterated stamps having a value equal to the amount paid by, or on behalf of, the sender.
“(1a.) The counter officer to whom a telegram form with stamps affixed to it is tendered or who affixes stamps to a telegram form in accordance with the last preceding sub-regulation shall immediately cancel those stamps.”.
