Telecommunications Standard

(GSM Customer Equipment—ACA TS 018) 1997

 

THE AUSTRALIAN COMMUNICATIONS AUTHORITY, makes the following standard under subsection 376 (1) of the Telecommunications Act 1997.

AUSTRALIAN COMMUNICATIONS AUTHORITY

 

 

Title

 1. This Standard is called Telecommunications Standard (ACA TS 018) 19971..

 

[NOTE:  This Standard takes effect on gazettal:  see Telecommunications Act 1997 s. 376 (5).]

Definitions

 2. In this Standard:

“ACA” means the Australian Communications Authority;

“customer equipment” has the meaning it has in the Act;

“GSM” means the digital cellular mobile telecommunications system known as ‘Global System for Mobile Communications’;

“the Act” means the Telecommunications Act 1997.

Standard for customer equipment connected to a GSM network

 3. For paragraphs 376 (2) (a), (b), (c) and (d) of the Act, the standard for non-interference interworking requirements for customer equipment intended for connection to a public GSM digital cellular mobile telecommunications system is the standard set out in the document known as “ACA TS 018 - 97” approved by the ACA in the ACA meeting of 26 November 1997.
