States Grants (Universities) (No. 2)

An Act to amend the States Grants (Universities) Act 1969 with respect to Approved Rates of Remuneration for Academic Staff of Universities and to the Amounts of Grants to the States in connexion with the Recurrent Expenditure of Universities and Teaching Hospitals.

BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, the Senate, and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:—
Short title and citation.
1.—(1.) This Act may be cited as the States Grants (Universities) Act (No. 2) 1970.
(2.) The States Grants (Universities) Act 1969 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.
(3.) The Principal Act, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the States Grants (Universities) Act 1969–1970.
Commencement.
2. This Act shall be deemed to have come into operation on the first day of January, One thousand nine hundred and seventy.
Salary rates.
3. Section 4 of the Principal Act is amended—
(a) by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-section (1.) the words “Twelve thousand dollars” and inserting in their stead the words “Fourteen thousand four hundred dollars”;
(b) by omitting from paragraph (b) of that sub-section the words “Nine thousand nine hundred dollars” and inserting in their stead the words “Eleven thousand eight hundred and eighty dollars”;
(c) by omitting from paragraph (c) of that sub-section the words “Eight thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars” and inserting in their stead the words “Ten thousand five hundred dollars”;
(d) by omitting from paragraph (d) of that sub-section the words “Seven thousand three hundred dollars” and inserting in their stead the words “Eight thousand seven hundred and sixty dollars per annum”; and
(e) by omitting from paragraph (e) of that sub-section the words “Five thousand four hundred dollars” and inserting in their stead the words “Six thousand three hundred and eighteen dollars per annum”.
First Schedule.
4. The First Schedule to the Principal Act is repealed and the Schedule set out in the First Schedule to this Act inserted in its stead.
Seventh Schedule.
5. The Seventh Schedule to the Principal Act is repealed and the Schedule set out in the Second Schedule to this Act inserted in its stead.
