Sex Discrimination Amendment (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Intersex Status) Act 2013
Proclamation
Subsection 2(1) of the Sex Discrimination Amendment (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Intersex Status) Act 2013 (the Act) provides that Schedule 1 to the Act will commence on Proclamation, or if any of the provision(s) do not commence within the period of 6 months beginning on the day this Act receives the Royal Assent, they commence on the day after the end of that period. The Act received Royal Assent on 28 June 2013.
The purpose of the Proclamation is to commence Schedule 1 of the Act on 1 August 2013.
The Act amends the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity and intersex status.
The Proclamation is a legislative instrument for the purposes of the Legislative Instruments Act 2003.
