Variation of Criteria: For Approval or Renewal of Approval of Rehabilitation Program Providers
Comcare has developed a model of occupational rehabilitation to assist employers to meet their responsibilities under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (“SRC Act”).
Under s34D of the Act, Comcare has determined the criteria to be complied with by all persons and organisations who are approved as rehabilitation program providers.
These criteria measure the competence, appropriateness and viability of each provider seeking approval or renewal of approval to deliver rehabilitation program services.
For renewal of approval purposes the provider is also required to provide evidence of referral activity and complete a satisfactory self-evaluation of performance against operational standards in force during the approval period.
In accordance with section 34D of the SRC Act, Comcare is to establish the criteria by instrument in writing. This criteria is a revised version of that determined on 8 October 2003 (Notice No 19 of 2003) and published in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette on 15 October 2003.
This criteria will be effective from 1 November 2006, as prescribed in
the Legislative Instrument to which this statement relates.
