Statutory Rules No. 26

Issued by the Authority of the Judges of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory

AMENDMENT OF THE RULES OF THE SUPREME COURT OF THE AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY

Sub-section 8(3) of the Australian Capital Territory Supreme Court Act 1933 provides in effect that when the Registrar exercises jurisdiction conferred on him by Rules of Court, the Act has effect as if the Court consisted of the Judges and the Registrar. The amendment empowers the Registrar to exercise a jurisdiction vested in the Court by s.11 of the Service and Execution of Process Act 1901, which Judges have previously exercised. The result will be a saving of judicial time.
