RESEARCH AWARDS RULE 2018

 

EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

 

 

 

 

 

 

1. Authority for making the instrument:  Vice-Chancellorship Statute 2013, section 9.5.

 

 

2. Purpose and operation of the instrument:  The Rule provides a framework in relation to the undertaking of programs of study leading to the award of research awards of the University.

 

 

3. Documents incorporated in the instrument by reference:  None.

 

 

4. Consultation process: The Academic Board endorsed minor amendment to the Research Awards Rule 2017 (RAR) to come into effect on 30 December 2018.  This was supposed by the ANU Higher Degree Research Committee and University Research Committee.  The substantive change is to the date of effect of the transitional arrangements relating to the maximum period for completion to 1 April 2020, in particular so that students who commenced in their program before this current RAR came into effect on 1 January 2016 are not disadvantaged.
