REMUNERATION TRIBUNAL

 

Explanatory Statement: Determination 2013/02

Remuneration and Allowances for Holders of Public Office

1. The Remuneration Tribunal has inquired into and determined the remuneration and significantly related matters for certain office holders, as it is empowered to do by the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973.

2. In making this determination the Tribunal has informed itself through consultation in accordance with established practice.

3. Any retrospective application of this determination is in accordance with subsection 12(2) of the Legislative Instruments Act 2003 as it does not affect the rights of a person (other than the Commonwealth or an authority of the Commonwealth) to that person’s disadvantage, nor does it impose any liability on such a person.

4. This Determination is compatible with the human rights or freedoms recognised or declared in the international instruments listed in section 3 of the Human Rights (Parliamentary Scrutiny) Act 2011.  This Determination does not engage any of the applicable rights or freedoms.

 

PART 1 PART-TIME OFFICES

 

5. Clause 1.1 specifies the Principal Determination (Number 13 of 2012 as amended) for the purposes of Part 1 of the Determination.

6. Clauses 1.2 to 1.4 set remuneration for the new offices of the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal (IMT) Board with effect on and from 13 December 2012.

7. Clauses 1.5 to 1.7 increase remuneration for the Chair and Members of ASC Pty Ltd. It also removes the entitlement of the Chair to additional remuneration. The date of effect is on and from 17 December 2012.

8.  Clause 1.8 and 1.9 set remuneration for the new Advisory Committee on the Safety of Vaccines with effect on and from 1 January 2013.

9. Clause 1.10 and 1.11 set remuneration for the new Prostheses List Advisory Committee with effect on and from 14 February 2013.

10. Clauses 1.12 to 1.14 set reduced remuneration for Ms Anna Bligh while she is a member of Medibank Private Ltd with effect on and from 21 December 2012.

11. Clauses 1.15 and 1.16 extends the Australian Workforce and Productivity Agency remuneration period from 1 November 2012 until 30 June 2013 inclusive.

 

PART 2 FULL-TIME OFFICES

 

12. Clause 2.1 specifies the Principal Determination (Number 24 of 2012 as amended) for the purposes of Part 2 of the Determination.

 

 

 

13. Clauses 2.2 and 2.3 set Accommodation Allowance for Mr Bruce Gosper while he occupies the position of Chief Executive Officer of Austrade with effect on and from 1 February 2013.

14. Clauses 2.4 to 2.5 remove all reference to Accommodation Allowance and Reunion Travel determined for Dr Helen Szoke, the former Race Discrimination Commissioner, Australian Human Rights Commission.
