REMUNERATION TRIBUNAL

 

Explanatory Statement: Determination 2007/01

Remuneration and Allowances for Holders of Public Office

 

1. The Remuneration Tribunal has inquired into and determined the remuneration and significantly related matters for office holders, as it is empowered to do by the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973.

 

2. In making this determination the Tribunal has informed itself through consultation in accordance with established practice.

 

3. Any retrospective application of this determination is in accordance with subsection 12(2) of the Legislative Instruments Act 2003 as it does not affect the rights of a person (other than the Commonwealth or an authority of the Commonwealth) to that person’s disadvantage, nor does it impose any liability on such a person.

 

PART 1 – PART-TIME OFFICES

 

4. Clause 1.1 specifies the Principal Determination (Number 12 of 2006 as amended) for the purposes of Part 1 of the Determination.

 

5.                  Clauses 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4, provide for Members of the Finance, Audit and Risk Management (FARM) Committee of Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) to receive additional audit committee fees.

 

6.                  Clause 1.5 provides for the inclusion in the principal determination of the new offices of Chair and Member of the Defence Reserves Support Council (DRSC). Effective on and from 28 November 2006, the Chair of the National Executive, DRSC, will receive $20,000 per annum and is entitled to Tier 2 Travel; and Members will receive $17,000 per annum and are entitled to Tier 2 Travel.

 

7.                  Clause 1.6 provides for the DRSC State/Territory Chairs to receive a daily rate, and Tier 2 Travel, on and from 28 November 2006.

 

 

 

PART 2FULL-TIME OFFICES

 

8.                  Clause 2.1 specifies the Principal Determination (Number 13 of 2006 as amended) for the purposes of Part 2 of the Determination.

 

9.                  Clauses 2.2 and 2.3 provides an increase in base salary and total remuneration for the office of Director General, Australian Safeguards and Non-Proliferation Office with effect from 25 October 2006.

 

10.             Clause 2.4 deletes reference to the Accommodation and Reunion Travel Allowances formerly provided for Mr E Willett, Member, Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, while on official business in Canberra.

 

PART 3JUDICIAL-RELATED OFFICES

 

 

11.             Clause 3.1 specifies the Principal Determination (Number 10 of 2006 as amended) for the purposes of Part 3 of the Determination.
 

12.             Clauses 3.2 to 3.5 provide remuneration and related benefits for the new offices of Chief Military Judge and Military Judge in the Australian Military Court; and replace reference to the Registrar of Military Justice with reference to the Registrar of the Australian Military Court.
