Remuneration and Allowances for Holders of Public Office

1.

The Remuneration Tribunal has inquired into and determined the remuneration and significantly related matters for public office holders, as it is empowered to do by the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973.

In making this determination the Tribunal has informed itself through consultation in accordance with established practice.

The retrospective application of this determination is in accordance with subsection 12(2) of the Legislative Instruments Act 2003 as it does not affect the rights of a person (other than the Commonwealth or an authority of the Commonwealth) to that person’s disadvantage, nor does it impose any liability on such a person.

                PART 1 – PART-TIME OFFICES

Clause 1.1 specifies the Principal Determination (Number 12 of 2004 as amended) for the purposes of Part 1 of the Determination.

Clause 1.2 increases the annual fee for Members of Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ).

Clause 1.3 increases the daily fee for Members of the National Childcare Accreditation Council (NCAC).

7.

Clause 1.4 inserts entries and sets daily fees and Travel Tiers for three organisations - the Australian Energy Regulator, the ABC’s Independent Complaints Review Panel, and the Australian National Council on Drugs.

Clause 1.5 inserts a footnote setting a fee for the Deputy Chairman of the Australian National Council on Drugs.

9.

Clause 1.6 specifies a date of effect of 31 March 2005 in relation to the provisions relating to FSANZ, NCAC, the Australian Energy Regulator and the ABC’s Independent Complaints Review Panel.

Clause 1.7 specifies a date of effect of 10 February 2005 in relation to entries referring to the Australian National Council on Drugs, being the date on which the offices were placed in the Tribunal’s jurisdiction by the Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations.

                PART 2 – FULL-TIME OFFICES

Clause 2.1 specifies the Principal Determination (Number 13 of 2004 as amended) for the purposes of Part 2 of the Determination.

12.

Clause 2.2 changes the title of the office formerly known as Director of Safeguards, and now known as Director General, Australian Safeguards and Non-Proliferation Office.
