Her Excellency the Governor-General is pleased to announce:

 

Recognition of RAOUL WALLENBERG as an Honorary Australian Citizen

 

for his tireless devotion to human life during the Holocaust.

The Governor-General, Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, hosted at Government House, Canberra on Monday 6 May 2013, the presentation of a certificate of honorary citizenship, signed by the Governor-General and the Prime Minister, the Honourable Julia Gillard MP.

 

Honorary Australian citizenship is symbolic recognition, outside of the Citizenship Act 2007.   A copy of the certificate is attached.  The original certificate will be preserved and displayed by the Jewish Holocaust Museum and Research Centre in Melbourne and the Sydney Jewish Museum.
